Nathan Michalak currently serves as the AVA President-Elect. His primary interest in joining AVA is to expand the scope of practice for the evaluation and management of vestibular and auditory pathway disorders. He earned his Doctor of Audiology from the University at Buffalo and completed his clinical fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio. He serves as Director of Audiology at the Macon & Joan Brock Virginia Health Sciences EVMS Medical Group at Old Dominion University. In this role, he is responsible for developing and implementing evidence-based clinical protocols and educational initiatives within the Department of Otolaryngology, Division of Audiology. His clinical and research interests include cognitive neuroscience, noise-induced hearing loss and hearing restoration. He also frequently serves as a medical-legal expert in cases involving hearing and balance disorders. He resides in Chesapeake, Virginia, with his wife, Stacey, their two daughters and their St. Berdoodle.
